Bearilliant Beasts UK cards
The Yoyo Bearilliant Beasts cards first appeared in the UK in mid-March 2023. The cards are in Portrait format, with the numbers marked on the front.
The initial set consists of 60 cards, but at least two sets of bonus cards will appear in due course. Continuing on from the last series, Bear has produced a new "App" called Bear Adventures which enables collectors to keep track of which cards they have.
The 60 cards a sub-divided into 12 sets of five cards each. The sets are Ancient Flyers and Swimmers; Ancient Oddities; Deadly Dinos; Dragons; Ice Age; Extinct; Folklore; Mythical Beasts; Peculiar Prehistoric; Plant Eating Dinos; Water Myths; and one unknown.
There is also a Go-Ape themed bonus set called Enchanted Forest which consists of five cards, and another bonus set called Magical Monsters that have appeared in the Haloween styled boxes - shown on the left.
One would expect that there will also be a US set, and an International set. In fact, the international set has now appeared.
We had also hope that this will once again mark the start of annual releases again, but alas no - this one has now been running for one year and six months.
Twenty of the initial 60 cards were released in the first batch in March 2023. Batch two consisted of a further 15 cards and 5 bonus cards and was released in May 2023. Batch three has added another bonus set of nine cards. Batch four appeared in February 2024 and has added another five cards . Recently (May 2024), new packaging has appeared - and after a few weeks when all hope had been extinguished, new cards appeared. Initial indications are that the gaps between 1 and 55 have been filled, but cards 56-60 remain elusive. This is the fifth, but not the final batch.
In this latest batch, there are at least two errors with the numbering, which means at some point there will be variants. The cards with numbering errors are #13 Pachycephalosaurus (incorrectly numbered #12) and #53 Cockatrice (incorrectly numbered #55).
Now into October 2024, and we are still waiting for new cards.....which have just appeared. Well, five have, together with corrections to the two cards with wrong numbers. Still another bonus set to go - i.e. the beast creations from the competition that closed at the end of September.
The gallery below has been populated with the sixty base cards, and two bonus sets, giving a total of 74 so far. The first page shows the first six cards. Pachycephalosaurus and Cockatrice have been edited to show their correct numbers.
