Bearilliant Beasts UK cards
The Yoyo Bearilliant Beasts cards first appeared in the UK in mid-March 2023. The cards are in Portrait format, with the numbers marked on the front.
The set consists of 86 cards, including three sets of bonus cards. Continuing on from the last series, Bear has produced a new "App" called Bear Adventures which enables collectors to keep track of which cards they have.
The 60 base cards a sub-divided into 12 sets of five cards each. The sets are Ancient Flyers and Swimmers; Ancient Oddities; Deadly Dinos; Dragons; Ice Age; Extinct; Folklore; Mythical Beasts; Peculiar Prehistoric; Plant Eating Dinos; Water Myths; and Legends.
There is also a Go-Ape themed bonus set called Enchanted Forest which consists of five cards, and another bonus set called Magical Monsters that have appeared in the Haloween styled boxes - shown on the left.
One would expect that there will also be a US set, and an International set. In fact, the international set has now appeared.
We had also hoped that this will once again mark the start of annual releases again, but alas no - this one has now been running for two years, and shows no sign of ending. Indeed, many child collectors have become adults during this time.
Twenty of the initial 60 cards were released in the first batch in March 2023. Batch two consisted of a further 15 cards and 5 bonus cards and was released in May 2023. Batch three has added another bonus set of nine cards. Batch four appeared in February 2024 and has added another five cards . In May 2024 new packaging appeared - and after a few weeks when all hope had been extinguished, new cards (batch five) appeared too, filling the gaps between 1 and 55.
In this latest batch, there are at least two errors with the numbering, which means at some point there will be variants. The cards with numbering errors are #13 Pachycephalosaurus (incorrectly numbered #12) and #53 Cockatrice (incorrectly numbered #55).
In October, batch six appeared which gave us cards 56-60 and corrections to cards 13 and 53. This finally completed the base set of sixty cards.
In February 2025, the very cute Mini Beasts set of 12 cards was released. These come in bags of 12 individual yoyos. The image on the left shows one of the mini beasts, the finger monkey.
Still one more bonus set remains elusive - the beast creations from the competition that closed at the end of September.
